Thrift Store Find

This is the fish purse I found at a local thrift store. I was so excited when I saw it because I knew it would go great with my Rainbow Fish Unit. I will use it to hold my Rainbow Fish vocabulary cards and comprehension questions from the story. I will go over the vocab cards before the story and then pull the questions from the bag after the story. The kids will LOVE it! My Rainbow Fish unit is on my TPT store at http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/The-Rainbow-Fish-Unit

Jellyfish

Made the Jellyfish for my theme in August. Took a 2 liter bottle and cut the bottom off, stuffed it with tissue paper, and cut white ribbon to hang from bottom. I think the kids will like it!

Thrift Store Treasures

Today I went shopping with my friends to local thrift stores. I have never been a thrift store person but Since I started teaching I have discovered it is a great way to find great buys for the classroom plus have a good time with great friends! My dear friend Cathy first introduced me to thriftines...thanks Cathy! Anyway...I found two magazine holders for my reading center, cool decorations for my bulletin board, and I am most excited about the large gold Christmas tree bulbs that I am going to use on my palm tree for coconuts...it's the little things in life that make me happy! I am so glad I am a primary school teacher because I really enjoy decorating and theme based learning! Oh and as you know I am doing a fish/ocean theme this year...I found a fish pocketbook that looks just like the Rainbow Fish. I am going to use it to hold my vocabulary cards and comprehension questions from the story. I also have a Rainbow Fish game that I will put in the pocketbook later and place in a center. All day long I was like a kid in a candy store! Lol...best of all, I got all this awesome stuff for under $20..wow...if you have never tried a thrift store for finding classroom treasure, please give it a try...you will love it...I will post pictures of all these wonderful treasures being used in my classroom in August.

Beaching it!

I am very much new to the world of blogging and it feels kind of strange typing these post because I feel like I am talking to myself...I think talking to yourself is ok as long as you don't answer yourself back...right?!?! Right! Anyway Just returned from the most beautiful beach vacation EVER!! In a few weeks I am taking my son on a fishing trip to Key West to celebrate graduating from High School! I am truly getting into my theme for next year...Fish/Ocean/Beach LOL.. theme...I am looking forward to loading pictures to my blog and all the ideas I have to go with it. I hope all these trips to the ocean will give me even more great ideas. I am currently working on a beach sign made from canes I gathered from the river banks near my house and I am making Jellyfish out of coke bottles..stay tuned for pictures of both! Only about four more weeks left until I return to work so I am trying to focus more on summer relaxing than work but it's hard not to think about school stuff...I get excited!! :)
